Racing Incident Report
WORLD STAR was withdrawn on 7.4.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter NON SEQUITUR. Before being allowed to race again, WORLD STAR will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. BROSE'S HONOR and FLYING FAST were slow to begin. TELECOM TWIN began awkwardly and got its head up. On jumping, JUST VICTORY was bumped by MISSION POSSIBLE which shifted in. Shortly after the start, JUST VICTORY and BEST EVER were steadied when crowded for room between MISSION POSSIBLE and STAR OF TAI PO which shifted out. Near the winning post on the first occasion, MILLENNIUM LEGEND shifted in and bumped NON SEQUITUR. In the early and middle stages, JUST VICTORY proved difficult to settle, on a number of occasions got its head up when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MISSION POSSIBLE, near the 1000 Metres and again at the 800 Metres shifted in and caused crowding to OH GREAT on its inside. At the 600 Metres, BROSE'S HONOR and BEST EVER bumped and after the 600 Metres BROSE'S HONOR was awkwardly placed outside the heels of BEST EVER which was carried out by FLYING FAST. On straightening, FLYING FAST was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of BEST EVER. In the Straight, FLYING FAST raced greenly and on a number of occasions shifted ground. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of BROSE'S HONOR, F Coetzee said he had been riding the horse in track work leading up to tonight's race and this work in his opinion had been impressive. He said BROSE'S HONOR was fractious in the barriers and slow to begin, causing it to get further back than anticipated. He said when racing near the rear, BROSE'S HONOR appeared lazy and in his opinion did not handle tonight's track conditions. BROSE'S HONOR was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, BROSE'S HONOR was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. OH GREAT, MISSION POSSIBLE and BEST EVER were sent for sampling.
