Racing Incident Report
CLASSA WIN began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BY INSTINCT. COMME D'HABITUDE was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, COMME D'HABITUDE and GALLANT HORSE were checked when crowded for room between MADE TO FIGURE which shifted in and GLORY HERO which shifted out. Making the first turn, GALLANT HORSE was momentarily steadied when crowded for room between CLASSA WIN and TOY QUEST. After the 1200 Metres, MADE TO FIGURE was steadied away from the heels of CLASSA WIN after being carried out by GALLANT HORSE which shifted ground when being difficult to settle. Near the 500 Metres, MAGICAL WARRIOR was steadied when tight inside DANRIVA. In the Straight, CELESTIAL MAGIC hung out, near the 100 Metres shifted ground and carried ABLE MARSHALL wider, again near the winning post shifted ground and caused some inconvenience to ABLE MARSHALL. Y T Cheng (COMME D'HABITUDE) explained from a wide gate he had been instructed to ride the horse behind midfield and with cover if possible. He said after being crowded on jumping, he shifted across to the fence but at the rear of the field, then COMME D'HABITUDE appeared reluctant to stride out and because of this became detached. He said after the 1000 Metres on several occasions he slapped COMME D'HABITUDE down the left shoulder with the whip in an endeavour to get it to improve its position, however, the horse did not respond. He said in the Straight COMME D'HABITUDE closed the race off in his opinion fairly, but its finishing effort was made to look better by passing tiring horses. The explanations of Y T Cheng were accepted. D Beasley (GLORY HERO) said the horse was obliged to race wide and without cover and for the majority of the race raced on the left lead and was inclined to shift out away from other runners. He said near the 800 Metres he asked the horse to go forward, but failed to respond to his riding, then in the Straight gave ground quickly. He said he had ridden GLORY HERO in work once leading into tonight's race and in his opinion this work was fair. He said after the race whilst GLORY HERO did not seem to be sore, it did not appear to be striding out freely. He said even having considered GLORY HERO had been obliged to race wide, in his opinion the horse was not entitled to give ground in the manner in which it did in the Straight. GLORY HERO and HOLY QUEST were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. Following the race, GLORY HERO was examined by the Veterinary Officer who was unable to detect any significant findings. The performance of GLORY HERO, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, GLORY HERO will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. After the race, HOLY QUEST was examined by the Veterianry Officer. He said the horse was lame in its left hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, HOLY QUEST will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. BY INSTINCT and CELESTIAL MAGIC were sent for sampling.
