Racing Incident Report

GOOD MOOD was slow to begin. After being a little slow to begin, SHABU SHABU raced awkwardly in the early stages and lost ground. TRIUMPH began awkwardly and in the early stages hung in. Shortly after the start, TABBRIS was steadied away from the heels of PLEASANT SUCCESS when not quite clear. At the 1000 Metres, GOOD MOOD became unbalanced when awkwardly placed close to the heels of MULTIPERFECTION, then near the 900 Metres was steadied away from the heels of FORM FIT. Near the 700 Metres, TIMBER CITY was checked when crowded for room between BIEN BIEN HEART and SHINING GEM (D Whyte) which shifted out away from the heels of TRIUMPH which was steadied slightly from behind MULTIPERFECTION. EQUUS ZEPHYRUS, which was following, was hampered in consequence. In the circumstances, it was considered appropriate that D Whyte be severely reprimanded and told if he continues to position his horse during the run so that a slight shift from him will result in another runner being interfered with, such a shift may be considered to place him in breach of the Rules. After the 300 Metres, GOOD MOOD, which was giving ground, was steadied when awkwardly placed outside the heels of TRIUMPH. When being ridden out over the last 200 Metres, FORM FIT shifted out. GOOD MOOD was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, GOOD MOOD, which tailed out, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was showing heat stress. Mr D Cruz, trainer of GOOD MOOD, was advised as the horse has now finished in a distressed condition following its only two race starts, the horse will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial being placed under pressure and further will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before racing again. Mr Cruz also undertook to work in close consultation with his stable Veterinary Surgeon prior to entering GOOD MOOD to race again. TRIUMPH, FORM FIT and MULTIPERFECTION were sent for sampling.
