Racing Incident Report

CHAMP DRAGON began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. On jumping, STRONGHEART, which was to be ridden quietly today, got its head up. CZAR OF PRUSSIA began awkwardly and got its head up, then proved difficult to settle in the early stages. GLOBAL FORTUNE was slow to begin. GALLANT HORSE and DOUBLE HAPPINESS proved difficult to settle in the early stages. At the 300 Metres, STRONGHEART, which was beginning to close the race off, was momentarily crowded for room between DANDY BUNNY and GLOBAL FORTUNE which shifted out. Throughout the race, SIR OCTAVIUS raced wide and without cover. G Schofield (PORTER RICKS) explained from a wide barrier today he had been instructed to ride the horse back in the field and endeavour to ensure the horse closed the race off. He said PORTER RICKS had previously been successful over 1200 Metres when ridden more prominently, however, when tried over 1400 Metres from a wide barrier and ridden in that manner, it had failed to finish the race off. He said today PORTER RICKS began well, he immediately took hold of his mount and steadied it towards the rear of the field to follow his instructions. He said in the Straight PORTER RICKS closed the race off nicely, however, it did show a tendency to hang out when DANDY BUNNY improved on his inside after the 200 Metres. D Dunn (THE ACHIEVER) said he had been instructed to ride the horse in a prominent position. He said MASTER YING which had drawn to his outside showed superior gate speed and shortly after the start crossed his running. He said he then elected to follow EPIC ENTERPRISE across as he was of the opinion that horse would race in a forward position, however, when it failed to do so, it meant he raced further back than intended. CHAMP DRAGON was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, CHAMP DRAGON was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. AURELIAN and SIR OCTAVIUS were sent for sampling.
