Racing Incident Report
CITI CENTRE began awkwardly and lost a significant amount of ground at the start. GOOD BOY began awkwardly and got its head up, as a result lost ground at the start. Shortly after the start, THE GREATEST, SHOW BRAVELY and HOT PRACTITIONER raced tight inside SUPER FORCE and outside WONDERFUL LIFE. As a result of this crowding, THE GREATEST and SHOW BRAVELY lost their positions. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, HOT PRACTITIONER was steadied from a position between WONDERFUL LIFE and SUPER FORCE. THE GREATEST, which was following HOT PRACTITIONER, was steadied away from that horse's heels. At the 1200 Metres, SHOW BRAVELY got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of HOT PRACTITIONER. On straightening, SHOW BRAVELY, which had been held up, was checked when disappointed for running between THE GREATEST and HOT PRACTITIONER which made the turn awkwardly and shifted out. As a result of this, SHOW BRAVELY shifted out and bumped THE GREATEST which was carried wider on straightening. CITI CENTRE, which was following SHOW BRAVELY, was checked and shifted out abruptly to avoid that horse's heels. This caused inconvenience to BLACK CARBINE and GOOD BOY which were carried wider. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Throughout the race, HAPPY WINNING, which had drawn a wide barrier, raced wide and without cover. SHOW BRAVELY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, SHOW BRAVELY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. SMART WIN and ACCLAMATION were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 12 June 2003) :
After the race, SHOW BRAVELY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. SHOW BRAVELY was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P F Yiu this morning and was noted to have a laceration to the right front pastern. Before being allowed to race again, SHOW BRAVELY will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
