Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, it was noted KING OF THE TURF had its tongue over the bit. Before being loaded, this was rectified. When the gates opened, NORTHERN ROSE bounded in the air and lost ground. Also when the gates opened, ABLE EAGLE put its head down. Over the concluding stages, LUCKY KING shifted wide on the track. W Smith (HAPPY WINNING) explained he had been instructed to ensure when he was to make his run he was on the outside of other runners as in the past HAPPY WINNING had attempted to savage horses when amongst horses. He said because of these instructions near the 600 Metres he steadied from a two wide position and shifted to the outside of HARVEY MUDD to ensure he was on the outside on straightening. HAPPY WINNING was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, HAPPY WINNING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. ABLE EAGLE and EASTKOWLOON SPIRIT were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that ENVOY OF LIGHT was lame in the left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, ENVOY OF LIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
