Racing Incident Report

BULL'S EYE was slow to begin. MINE HOST was a little slow to begin and shortly afterwards was crowded for room between DANAMITE and CARACOLER which began awkwardly and shifted in. IDOL began awkwardly. From the outside gate, JAZZ BEAT was momentarily steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position on the rail but at the rear. Near the 1300 Metres, FLYING BISHOP, which was proving difficult to settle, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of DANAMITE which shifted in when only just clear. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, CARACOLER, which was commencing to give ground, became unbalanced and was unable to hold its position when racing inside the heels of CELEBRATION and outside JAZZ BEAT (G Schofield) which improved into a tight run on the inside of CARACOLER. G Schofield was reprimanded and told to ensure there was sufficient room before improving into runs. At the 200 Metres, MINE HOST was bumped by CELEBRATION which got its head on the side and shifted in. Over the concluding stages, LUCKY SABRE raced close to the heels of DARWIN which continued to give ground and because of this LUCKY SABRE was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. In the Straight, when giving ground DARWIN hung in badly and proved difficult to ride out. Throughout the race, CELEBRATION raced wide and without cover. DARWIN and CARACOLER were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, DARWIN and CARACOLER were examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. BULL'S EYE, SPLENDID PATROL and FLYING BISHOP were sent for sampling.
