Racing Incident Report
AMITY, which was to be ridden back in the field from the outside draw tonight, began awkwardly and got its head up. SPRING FOUNTAIN began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with BEAUTY PLUS. Shortly after the start, FLYING KENNY and FANTASTIC SHADOW bumped. Also shortly after the start, BRILLIANT ATTORNEY was checked when crowded for room between JOYFUL MASTER which shifted out slightly and CHINA WORLD which shifted in slightly. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Shortly after this, as CHINA WORLD was shifting out to relieve the pressure, it caused BEAUTY PLUS to be carried out which in turn caused inconvenience to SPRING FOUNTAIN and to a lesser degree GOT IT RIGHT. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, JOYFUL MASTER hung out. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, BRILLIANT ATTORNEY bumped the running rail when tight inside CHINA WORLD. Prior to straightening, FLYING KENNY was momentarily steadied away from the heels of BEAUTY PLUS. SPRING FOUNTAIN, which was following, was steadied in consequence. Near the 100 Metres, BEAUTY PLUS was momentarily tightened for room inside EASTKOWLOON SPIRIT which got its head on the side and shifted in. Throughout the race, FANTASTIC SHADOW raced wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. D Dunn (AMITY) said whilst he had been instructed to ride the horse in a rearward position from its gate, it was not the intention to be detached from the field. He said immediately on jumping he steadied AMITY and as soon as he did this the horse dropped the bit, appeared awkward in its action and was reluctant to stride out. He said after entering the Back Straight he rode AMITY along, however, the horse did not pick up until entering the Home Straight. The explanation of D Dunn was accepted. FANTASTIC SHADOW was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, FANTASTIC SHADOW was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in its right fore leg. Before being allowed to race again, FANTASTIC SHADOW will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BEAUTY PLUS, BRILLIANT ATTORNEY and DRAGON STRIDE were sent for sampling.
