Racing Incident Report

ONE STEP AHEAD bounded in the air when the gates opened, causing W M Lai, its rider, to become badly unbalanced and his saddle to shift to the left side. ACROBATIC was slow to begin and then was inconvenienced and carried out by DARWIN which on jumping shifted ground. DANAMITE and KA KA WIN were slow to begin. KENWOOD MELODY and SURVEYOR began awkwardly. When the pace slackened passing the 1400 Metres, KA KA WIN steadied off the heels of SURVEYOR, shifted in and crowded DANAMITE which bumped the running rail, then shifted out. This caused KA KA WIN to be taken out which in turn caused HELENE MOMENTUM to be carried out across the heels of BULLISH LUCK and be checked. ONE STEP AHEAD, which was following, was hampered in consequence. In the circumstances, no action was taken. After this, BULLISH LUCK was obliged to race wide and without cover. At the 1000 Metres, DANAMITE was ridden to hold its position inside KA KA WIN. A Delpech (SURVEYOR) said he had been instructed to have the horse in 3rd or 4th position with cover if possible. He said SURVEYOR began awkwardly, he was then reluctant to ride his mount along to go forward as he felt it might commence to over-race, therefore he elected to follow COMMANDER CHARLIE in the run and was racing about midfield. The explanation of A Delpech was accepted. BULLISH LUCK, DARWIN and ACROBATIC were sent for sampling.
