Racing Incident Report
J Spencer was declared as the rider of both TUMBLER and WOODSON at declaration time. It was established that J Spencer had a firm commitment to TUMBLER. D Dunn was substituted as the rider of WOODSON. J Spencer was fined $2,000 for this double declaration. Prior to the start being effected, an outrider's horse made contact with the electrical lead which activates the starting bell and the sectional timing. As a result, this lead was disconnected and because of this the starting bell did not sound and electrical sectional times were not taken. PROFIT DAY bounded in the air at the start and hit the outside gate of its stall. When the gates opened, TIM'S TONIC got its head up, began very awkwardly and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between TIME OF RED WINE and HEALTHY HEART which on jumping shifted in abruptly. TUMBLER began awkwardly. QUEEN'S GLORY was slow to begin. FOREVER CHARMING began awkwardly and shortly after the start knuckled, then in the early stages on a number of occasions got its head up and became unbalanced. Near the 1000 Metres, WOODSON shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of WISDOM EXPRESS. Approaching the 600 Metres, WOODSON, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when awkwardly placed inside the heels of WISDOM EXPRESS. For the major part of the race, TIME OF RED WINE raced wide and without cover and making the Home Turn was carried wider by WINWIN COMBINATION which shifted to the outside of FORTUNE MAPLE to go forward. In the early part of the Straight, WOODSON had difficulty obtaining clear running when close to the heels of WISDOM EXPRESS and tight inside TIM'S TONIC. Near the 200 Metres, WISDOM EXPRESS was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between FORTUNE MAPLE and WINWIN COMBINATION. After this, WISDOM EXPRESS had difficulty obtaining clear running between FORTUNE MAPLE and SUPERSONIC and because of this was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. WISDOM EXPRESS, HEALTHY HEART and FORTUNE MAPLE were sent for sampling.
