Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, DONGGUAN EXCELS stood flat-footed and lost a considerable amount of ground at the start. Before being permitted to race again, DONGGUAN EXCELS will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. LUCKY SUPERSTAR and SEASONS TREASURE were slow to begin. PERPETUAL PLEASURE began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped STRATEGIC SELECT. In the early stages, FORTUNE SMILES proved very difficult to settle. Approaching the 1600 Metres, LIGHT FOOT and SEASONS TREASURE were checked when crowded for room between FIVE GRAINS which shifted out when proving difficult to settle and SUPER WONGCHOY which was carried in by HIGH SPIRITS. In the circumstances, no action was taken. At the 1400 Metres, FIVE GRAINS was momentarily steadied to avoid the heels of HIGH SPIRITS which shifted in when only just clear. At the 900 Metres, HIGH SPIRITS was steadied away from the heels of MASTER MARAUDER which shifted to the outside of DANEFACTOR. After the 100 Metres, FIVE GRAINS shifted out and carried PERPETUAL PLEASURE wider. MEMBERS GLORY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. FIVE GRAINS and PERPETUAL PLEASURE were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 22 December 2003)
MEMBERS GLORY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said at that time there were no significant findings. The horse was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Surgeon at the stables of Trainer K W Lui yesterday and at this time was noted to have sustained a small wound with swelling below its right lateral knee. Before being allowed to race again, MEMBERS GLORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
