Racing Incident Report

On entering the track, MYTHIC STEED (Apprentice P H Lo) dislodged its rider. MYTHIC STEED worked a considerable distance up the 1800 Metre chute. After being boxed, HONEY MONEY became fractious, reared, broke open its front gates, came out of the stalls, reared again and dislodged F Coetzee, its rider. As this took place, NEVER SO YOUNG put its head down, broke through underneath the front gates of its stall riderless. Both HONEY MONEY and NEVER SO YOUNG completed the course before being re-captured. Acting on veterinary advice that MYTHIC STEED, HONEY MONEY and NEVER SO YOUNG were not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of these horses. Before being permitted to race again, HONEY MONEY and NEVER SO YOUNG will both have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Also after being boxed, KING OF GAROUPA was fractious and when the gates opened began awkwardly and lost ground. On jumping, CHAMPION WINNER and HAPPY YEARS bumped. A PLUS FIT began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall. RECOVERY was slow to begin. Near the 300 Metres, HAPPY YEARS, which was hanging out, was momentarily steadied away from the heels of BRILLIANT which shifted in slightly. Over about the final 200 Metres, KING OF GAROUPA got its head on the side and shifted in gradually. RECOVERY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of RECOVERY after the race did not show any significant findings. SING AND DRINK and KING OF GAROUPA were sent for sampling.
