Racing Incident Report

MY FORTUNE and SUPREME MOLLY began awkwardly and bumped the inside gates of their stalls. KEEP ON EASY, which was fractious after being boxed, began awkwardly, then was steadied when crowded for room between SIGHT CHAMPION and PROGRESSING TIMES which shifted out after being bumped by SOUNDS BETTER which in turn had been bumped by SALUT BEAUTE. MAJOR BEE began awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall, then shortly afterwards became unbalanced when bumped by COUNTRY MUSIC which shifted in abruptly after making contact with SUPREME MOLLY. After the 400 Metres, SOUNDS BETTER, which had been hanging out, became unbalanced and shifted in after being brushed by SIGHT CHAMPION which shifted in after being brushed by KEEP ON EASY. Apprentice K T Yeung (SALUT BEAUTE) reported his saddle shifted forward in the early stages. W Smith (MAJOR BEE) said the horse after being bumped heavily at the start took a little time to become balanced again, then appeared to stride out comfortably. He said after the 600 Metres he commenced to ride MAJOR BEE along, however, he immediately became concerned with the horse's action as it became unbalanced, he therefore did not ride MAJOR BEE out. He said after the race MAJOR BEE appeared normal in its action and he was of the opinion MAJOR BEE may not have handled today's track conditions. MAJOR BEE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race MAJOR BEE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. The performance of MAJOR BEE was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, MAJOR BEE will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MY FORTUNE and CHAMPION WINNER were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of MY FORTUNE and CHAMPION WINNER after the race did not show any significant findings. COUNTRY MUSIC and LUCKY TRIO were sent for sampling. The Stewards adjourned the inquiry into the running and riding of MY FORTUNE to a date to be fixed.
