Racing Incident Report
FLYING KENNY, which was restless after being boxed, began awkwardly and was steadied away from the heels of SUPER SPRINT. On jumping, WINNING BOY was bumped by ALL THE BEST which shifted out. SILVERBIRD was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between WINNING SUNSHINE which shifted in after being bumped by FANTASTIC STAR and TANAHMERAH which shifted out away from THUNDER MAN. From the outside gate, HIGH SPIRITS was steadied and shifted across behind runners to a position closer to the rail but near the rear. Passing the 800 Metres, WINNING SUNSHINE, which had been close to the heels of ALL THE BEST, was shifted out to race in a three wide position without cover. Making the Home Turn, ALL THE BEST hung out. Near the 200 Metres, THUNDER MAN was brushed by BLACK KNIGHT which shifted out. After this, THUNDER MAN hung in. After the 100 Metres, TANAHMERAH was shifted to the inside of WINNING SUNSHINE into clear running, then near the winning post was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of that horse and because of this was not ridden out as it normally would be. In the Straight, HIGH SPIRITS hung in. ALL THE BEST and TANAHMERAH were sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of ALL THE BEST and TANAHMERAH after the race did not show any significant findings. WINNING BOY, which tailed out, was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, WINNING BOY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was lame in its left front leg. The performance of WINNING BOY was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, WINNING BOY will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. WINNING SUNSHINE, SUPER SPRINT and FANTASTIC STAR were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted SILVERBIRD had spread its left front plate.
