Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, it was noted OUR JET had its tongue over the bit. This was adjusted prior to the horse being loaded. GLOBE MARK was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between ARABIAN WAGER which on jumping stumbled, then shifted in after being brushed by DANHERO which began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall and DIAMOND CENTURY which on jumping was carried out by LUCKY TRIO which shifted ground. On jumping, WINNING COUNTER and PAOBRIDGE bumped. Also on jumping, BOLD FIGHTER and RUN AND WIN bumped. Shortly after the start, DIAMOND CENTURY was checked when crowded for room between ARABIAN WAGER and LUCKY TRIO, both of which shifted further ground. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, PAOBRIDGE was steadied when unable to maintain its position between BOLD FIGHTER and LUCKY TRIO which was racing awkwardly inside the heels of ARABIAN WAGER which at that time had its head on the side and shifted in slightly. Also making the turn at the 1000 Metres, SOLID CONTACT became unbalanced. After the 1000 Metres, WINNING COUNTER was checked away from the heels of PAOBRIDGE. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, WINNING COUNTER was crowded for room inside PAOBRIDGE which at that time got its head on the side and hung in. In the middle stages, LUCKY TRIO hung out. In the Straight, DIAMOND CENTURY hung in and over the concluding stages proved difficult to ride out. D Whyte (ARABIAN WAGER) explained the horse travelled comfortably in a forward position throughout, however, when he asked it to improve passing the 400 Metres the horse became unbalanced in its action outside the heels of NOBLE HERO. He said following this ARABIAN WAGER did not stride out as it should and because of this he did not ride it out to the end of the race. He said following the race in his opinion ARABIAN WAGER appeared sore in front. ARABIAN WAGER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, ARABIAN WAGER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings, however, he noted the horse had lost its left front plate. The performance of ARABIAN WAGER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ARABIAN WAGER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. OUR JET and NOBLE HERO were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 19 February 2004)
ARABIAN WAGER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings, however, he noted the horse had lost its left front plate. ARABIAN WAGER was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer T K Ng this morning. He said at this time the horse had some inflammation to the left front fetlock. As previously advised, ARABIAN WAGER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination before racing again.
