Racing Incident Report
After being mounted, C'EST LA VIE became fractious and dislodged Apprentice C K Tong, its rider. As Apprentice Tong was dislodged, he was struck in the stomach by C'EST LA VIE. As a result of this, Apprentice Tong was not able to fulfil his riding obligation. To avoid an unreasonable delay, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of C'EST LA VIE. When the gates opened, AMBITIOUS LEADER bounded in the air and lost a considerable amount of ground. SWEET SMILE began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, NEW MILESTONE got its head on the side, shifted in away from FLYING KENNY and was steadied away from the heels of MYSTIC SPIRITS which on jumping shifted out. In the early stages, NEW MILESTONE and FLYING KENNY proved difficult to settle. At the 1200 Metres, ETERNAL START and KIMBO KID were inconvenienced and carried wider by HIP HIP HOORAY which shifted out when being ridden along. Near the 1000 Metres, SWEET SMILE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of KIMBO KID which was racing tight inside NORTHERN ROSE. In the middle stages, NORTHERN ROSE hung out. For some distance after the 400 Metres, HANDBAG PREMIER was held up and unable to obtain clear running behind WINNING PARADE and inside HIP HIP HOORAY. Near the 300 Metres, FLYING KENNY was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of NEW MILESTONE. After the 200 Metres, SWEET SMILE shifted out and bumped GOOD FRIENDS. For the major part of the race, NEW MILESTONE raced wide and without cover. ETERNAL START was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, ETERNAL START was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant abnormalities. NORTHERN ROSE and HANDBAG PREMIER were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported that MYSTIC SPIRITS had bled from both nostrils. Also after the race, it was noted that WINNING PARADE had lost its right front plate.
