Racing Incident Report

RED PEPPER began awkwardly. On jumping, RIVER DANCER was buffeted between DR MORE which shifted out and PRECISION which shifted in. When the gates opened, BULLISH LUCK got its head up. MERIDIAN STAR began awkwardly and shortly afterwards was crowded for room between HO CHOI and ELEGANT FASHION. In the early stages, CHEERFUL FORTUNE proved very difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up, then making the Home Turn hung out. Near the 700 Metres, DR MORE got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of ELEGANT FASHION. After the 200 Metres, BULLISH LUCK was inconvenienced when bumped by PRECISION which shifted in away from BOWMAN'S CROSSING. Then over about the last 50 Metres, BULLISH LUCK was unable to obtain clear running between MERIDIAN STAR and inside the heels of BOWMAN'S CROSSING (M Kinane) which was drifting in. Because of this, BULLISH LUCK was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. M Kinane was told in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount. Throughout the race, RIVER DANCER raced three wide and without cover. WINTROW was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, WINTROW was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had bled from both nostrils. BULLISH LUCK, ELEGANT FASHION and PALETTE NATURAL were sent for sampling.
