Racing Incident Report
TIBER, which was reported to have kicked the rail whilst being weighed, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and considered suitable to race. As the gates opened, SATURN, which had just become fractious, bumped the outside gate of its stall, began awkwardly and consequently lost ground. After this, SATURN proved difficult to settle and on a number of occasions got its head up when close to the heels of ROOSEVELT. RAIDER was a little slow to begin, then was bumped by SHANE which was carried out by AIN'T HERE. ROOSEVELT was also a little slow to begin, then bumped the hindquarters of LIBERAL'S CHOICE. From the outside barrier, INDUSTRIAL SUCCESS was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners to race close to the rail but with the rear. Making the turn out of the Straight the first time, MAGIC MAIL, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up and shifted out abruptly when being checked away from the heels of PERFECT PARTNER which after shifting in when clear was then steadied to allow LUCKY OWNERS to go forward of it. When MAGIC MAIL shifted out, inconvenience was caused to LUCKY PARADISE and INDUSTRIAL SUCCESS, both of which were hampered and carried wider. After this incident, MAGIC MAIL continued to prove difficult to settle and after passing the 1400 Metres was allowed to stride forward to join the lead. After the 1600 Metres, PERFECT PARTNER shifted out while hanging. At the 1400 Metres, ROOSEVELT was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of TIBER. SATURN, which was following ROOSEVELT, got its head up and was steadied away from that horse. At the 800 Metres, ROOSEVELT was steadied when crowded for room by TIBER (D Whyte) which shifted to the inside of the heels of LUCKY OWNERS after being awkwardly placed when that horse steadied following being crossed by MAGIC MAIL. SATURN, which was following ROOSEVELT, was steadied in consequence. While it was decided not appropriate to take action, D Whyte was told he should take every effort to protect his fellow riders. In the early part of the Straight, TIBER had difficulty obtaining clear running between MAGIC MAIL and LUCKY OWNERS. Near the 300 Metres, LUCKY PARADISE, which was commencing to give ground, was steadied away from the heels of SHANE. About 50 Metres from the winning post, LUCKY PARADISE became unbalanced. ROOSEVELT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, ROOSEVELT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. LUCKY OWNERS and TIBER were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted LUCKY PARADISE had lost its left front plate.
