Racing Incident Report
Shortly after the start, HOT PRACTITIONER and CHERISHED raced tight between RESOURCEFUL PRINCE and DANEFACTOR which shifted out. RAINBOW DIAMOND began awkwardly. Near the 1700 Metres, RESOURCEFUL PRINCE became unbalanced when bumped by BEING FAMOUS which was carried in slightly by TRIUMPH. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, DOLPHIN STAR was steadied when crowded for room inside BEING FAMOUS which at this time was shifting in as it was improving inside the heels of HOT PRACTITIONER. When BEING FAMOUS was shifted out to relieve the pressure to its inside, it bumped TRIUMPH which as a result became unbalanced and shifted wider. No action was taken. Near the 1300 Metres, DIVINE FEELING was steadied away from the heels of CHERISHED. Prior to straightening, RAINBOW DIAMOND was steadied when held up and close to the heels of BEING FAMOUS. Also prior to straightening, DOLBRIDGE was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of RESOURCEFUL PRINCE. On straightening, RAINBOW DIAMOND was checked when disappointed for running between BEING FAMOUS and RESOURCEFUL PRINCE which shifted out. For some distance after this, RAINBOW DIAMOND was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BEING FAMOUS which was giving ground. Shortly after straightening, DOLBRIDGE attempted to improve on the inside of MAGIC TOUCH where there was insufficient room. As a result, DOLBRIDGE was held up for a considerable distance and near the 200 Metres clipped the heels of MAGIC TOUCH, blundered and almost fell. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Near the 200 Metres, BEING FAMOUS was steadied and shifted to the outside of TRIUMPH which was giving ground. Throughout the race, TRIUMPH raced in a forward position but was three wide without cover. Also throughout the race, DIVINE FEELING hung in. D Whyte (DOLPHIN STAR) was unable to offer any explanation for the horse's poor performance. He said the horse raced three wide but with cover in the early stages, then after the 700 Metres was under pressure and did not respond to his riding. He said after this DOLPHIN STAR in his opinion was somewhat short in its stride. DOLPHIN STAR was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of DOLPHIN STAR after the race did not show any significant findings. RAINBOW DIAMOND, HOT PRACTITIONER and RESOURCEFUL PRINCE were sent for sampling.
