Racing Incident Report

ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was slow to begin. GREEN TREASURE, TOY QUEST and SANBENITO were slow to begin. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, BRAVE KNIGHT was steadied when crowded for room inside GLORIOUS LIGHT which shifted in. Making the Home Turn, LUCKY MARAUDING was carried wider by GREEN TREASURE which shifted to the outside of BRAVE KNIGHT into clear running. At the 200 Metres, SUPER SPRINT became unbalanced. After this, SUPER SPRINT was not ridden out to the end of the race and finished tailed out. SUPER SPRINT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. Following the race, SUPER SPRINT was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. The performance of SUPER SPRINT was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, SUPER SPRINT will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Over the concluding stages, BRAVE KNIGHT hung in. D Whyte (LUCKY MARAUDING), which had drawn the outside gate, said the intention had been to ride the horse with cover because it had previously shown a tendency to over-race. He said it began well, he immediately took hold in the hope of being able to shift across and obtain a position somewhere around midfield, however, GLORIOUS LIGHT held its position to his inside and he therefore decided to steady and come back behind that horse in an attempt to find cover. He said when he steadied LUCKY MARAUDING, it got its head up, then in the early and middle stages continued to prove very difficult to settle and again after the 1000 Metres got its head up. He said because of the manner in which LUCKY MARAUDING had raced, it failed to finish the race off today and was most disappointing. LUCKY MARAUDING was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of LUCKY MARAUDING after the race did not show any significant findings. BELGRAVE and GREEN TREASURE were sent for sampling.
