Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, ABLE EAGLE broke through. ABLE EAGLE was quickly reined in, returned to the Start where it was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and after the necessary consultations was considered suitable to race. Before being allowed to race again, ABLE EAGLE will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. KINDRED SPIRITS was slow to begin. ENGINEERING WONDER began very awkwardly and as a consequence lost ground. At the 800 Metres, LUCKY GALLOPER was steadied to avoid the heels of ALL FIT which shifted in when barely clear. Also at the 800 Metres, ATHLETIC GOLD and FAVOURITE EXPRESS were steadied when momentarily crowded for room inside ABLE EAGLE. Making the Home Turn, ALL FIT lay out. For a considerable distance after the 400 Metres, MARANELLO was held up and unable to obtain clear running between MAJESTIC FEELING and SUPER PRINCE. Then near the 300 Metres, MARANELLO was shifted to the inside of MAJESTIC FEELING in an attempt to find clear running, was unable to do so and continued to be held up on the heels of that runner until near the 200 Metres. Near the 200 Metres, MAJESTIC FEELING was shifted to the outside of ALL FIT to obtain clear running. For some distance after the 200 Metres, LUCKY GALLOPER and SUPER PRINCE raced tight due mainly to SUPER PRINCE shifting out. In the Straight, FAVOURITE EXPRESS hung out. K S Yu (AMBITIOUS LEADER) said the horse began fairly, he immediately commenced to ride it along, however, the horse did not stride out and in his opinion felt unbalanced throughout. He said in the Straight AMBITIOUS LEADER did not respond to his riding. The performance of AMBITIOUS LEADER was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, AMBITIOUS LEADER will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FAVOURITE EXPRESS was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of FAVOURITE EXPRESS after the race did not show any significant findings. MARANELLO, MAJESTIC FEELING and ALL FIT were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted ATHLETIC GOLD had sustained a laceration to the right fore fetlock.
