Racing Incident Report
When presenting himself at scales to weigh out, P Payne, the rider of DANSKE VERY MUCH, was found to be overweight. As such, the Stewards permitted B Doyle to be substituted. P Payne was subsequently fined $4,000 for accepting a ride for which he was overweight. KING OF WIN and BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY were slow to begin. DANSKE VERY MUCH began awkwardly and got its head up, then hung out making the first turn and raced greenly throughout. SHOGUN was a little slow to begin. At the 200 Metres, TAKING THE LEAD was steadied when disappointed for running between SHOGUN and OKEYDOKEY. TAKING THE LEAD was then shifted to the outside of OKEYDOKEY to obtain clear running, shortly afterwards was crowded for room between that horse which shifted out and LASER GLORY. Near the 100 Metres, DANSKE VERY MUCH was steadied and shifted to the inside of OKEYDOKEY to continue going forward and over the concluding stages was checked when unable to obtain clear running between KING OF WIN and OKEYDOKEY which drifted in when giving ground. Y T Cheng (EASTKOWLOON SPIRIT) said he had been instructed to have the horse begin well and obtain a position in midfield with cover if possible. He said EASTKOWLOON SPIRIT began well and he rode it along for a short distance to ensure it did not get too far back. He said SUPER PRINCE which had drawn to his inside went forward with him and as a consequence he was caught four wide and without cover making the first turn slightly forward of midfield. He said at the 800 Metres he looked to his inside to see if there was an opportunity for him to obtain cover, however, at this time he was racing about a neck off SUPER PRINCE and for him to have come back behind that horse in his opinion would have required him to unnecessarily restrain his mount, he therefore allowed it to remain racing on the outside of SUPER PRINCE without cover. SHOGUN and TIGER RIDGE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted OKEYDOKEY had sustained a graze to its left hind leg.
