Racing Incident Report
CITI CENTRE was withdrawn on 26.10.04 on veterinary grounds (swollen left hind fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter IN THE BANK (S Dye). Before being allowed to race again, CITI CENTRE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was slow to begin. THUNDER MAN began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped IN THE BANK. MODERN PROSPECT was slow to begin, then shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between PRINCE GOLF and CLASSA VICTORY which shifted out. At the 200 Metres, WHATABOB was steadied and shifted to the outside of PRINCE GOLF into clear running. Also at the 200 Metres, DANEHILL WARRIOR was steadied away from the heels of SUPER SPRINT into clear running. R Fradd (SUPER SPRINT) will be reminded of his obligations to ride his horse out at least hands and heels right to the winning post wherever possible. W Woods (SHINING DRAGON), which had drawn the outside gate, said it had always been the intention to drop the horse in and find cover. He said the last time SHINING DRAGON raced at Happy Valley from a wide barrier, it did not show enough speed to cross other runners and therefore was caught wide. He said the speed of today's race was quick and consequently after dropping back he was a considerable distance from the lead, however, he commenced to ride SHINING DRAGON along after the 600 Metres to improve his position. He said then in the Home Straight he initially intended to make his run towards the outside, however, WHATABOB shifted out in front of him near the 250 Metres, he therefore came to the inside of that horse and then near the 100 Metres he had to steady away from the heels of DANEHILL WARRIOR which also shifted out. The explanation of W Woods was accepted. After the race, S Dye (IN THE BANK) said the horse did not feel right in its action over the concluding stages and gave ground quickly. He said on pulling up IN THE BANK was making an abnormal breathing noise. IN THE BANK was sent for an official veterinary inspection. The horse was subsequently examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at this time he was not able to detect any abnormalities. Before being allowed to race again, IN THE BANK will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CLASSA VICTORY, FRUITY FRUITY and WHATABOB were sent for sampling.
