Racing Incident Report

BEST GIFT, which had been fractious in the barriers, reared just prior to the gates opening, then began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped TANAHMERAH. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, SUNRISE RAINBOW got its head up and was steadied to avoid the heels of MONEY STRONG which shifted in when only just clear. Near the 1300 Metres, CHEERFUL HEART was steadied away from the heels of SUNRISE RAINBOW. In the Straight when giving ground, WISE CHOICE hung in. Right on the winning post, KONRAD THE GREAT was awkwardly placed inside the heels of OSCAR STAR which was drifting in. Because of this, KONRAD THE GREAT was not ridden out right to the winning post. Throughout the race, WISE CHOICE raced wide and without cover. E Saint-Martin (SUNRISE RAINBOW) was unable to offer any explanation for the horse's poor performance. He said he had obtained a forward position as instructed, however, SUNRISE RAINBOW did not really travel well at any stage of the race. He said following the race SUNRISE RAINBOW appeared normal in its action. SUNRISE RAINBOW was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. After the race, SUNRISE RAINBOW was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUNRISE RAINBOW will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. RESOURCEFUL PRINCE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of RESOURCEFUL PRINCE after the race did not show any significant findings. MONEY STRONG and BEST GIFT were sent for sampling.
