Racing Incident Report
After being boxed, GALLANT STAR became fractious, reared and got its left front leg caught over the partition of the adjoining barrier. The horse was removed from its stall and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of GALLANT STAR. Before being allowed to race again, GALLANT STAR will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. ABLE MARS was slow to begin. On jumping, BALL OF FIRE got its head up and lost ground. Near the 1100 Metres, CLANG'S PRIDE was crowded for room inside SIGHT CHAMPION which got its head on the side and shifted in away from CHARIOT OF WEI HAI which was crossing to the lead. Prior to straightening, CHECK MATE was checked when crowded for room between BALL OF FIRE and LUCKY CORDELIA, both of which shifted ground slightly. In the circumstances, no action was taken. At the 300 Metres, TRIUMPH was steadied when held up and unable to improve while close to the heels of SIGHT CHAMPION. At the 100 Metres, TRIUMPH was steadied when crowded for room between SIGHT CHAMPION which was carried out slightly by CHARIOT OF WEI HAI and BINGSON which was carried in by CHECK MATE which shifted away from GLOBE RIVER after initially improving inside that horse which drifted in. TRIUMPH was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of TRIUMPH after the race did not show any significant findings. WHATA FEELING, which performed poorly, was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, WHATA FEELING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, WHATA FEELING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUCKY CORDELIA and GLOBE RIVER were sent for sampling.
