Racing Incident Report
Prior to the running of Race 2, the Veterinary Officer reported he had examined SHARE THE FUN and found it was to be distressed and agitated and as such in his opinion was not suitable to race. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SHARE THE FUN. Before being allowed to race again, SHARE THE FUN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Prior to the running of Race 6, it was noted DRAGON AND GOLD had shifted both hind plates in the holding stalls. DRAGON AND GOLD was re-plated behind and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. ENGINEERING WONDER was slow to begin. CROWNED GEM began awkwardly and then was bumped when crowded for room between SHARKI and AMO. SUPER CHARGE made the turn near the 1000 Metres awkwardly and shifted out. A Delpech (GRAND COMMANDS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 1000 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SHARKI, causing that horse to lose its rightful running and be checked and further causing crowding to WIN AGAIN. A Delpech was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Monday 14 March 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong race days). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Saturday 5 March 2005. In addition, A Delpech was fined $80,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating 2 further racedays. An application from Jockey Delpech that he be permitted to commence the suspension with immediate effect was not acceded to. Throughout the race, DRAGON AND GOLD raced wide, after the 800 Metres got its head on the side and then making the turn near the 600 Metres hung out. Because of this, B Prebble, its rider, changed the whip into his left hand. Near the 600 Metres, SHARKI was steadied to avoid the heels of SUPER CHARGE which shifted in when barely clear. In the concluding stages, THE WORLD OF LOVE and WIN AGAIN bumped on two occasions as a result of both horses shifting ground. R Fradd (SUPREME MOLLY) said at no stage of the race tonight did the horse handle the track conditions and when under pressure after the 600 Metres became unbalanced in its action. SUPREME MOLLY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUPREME MOLLY after the race did not show any significant findings. D Whyte (SHARKI) said despite having been interfered with near the 1000 Metres the horse travelled fairly until after the 700 Metres, however, the horse then came under pressure and he was not able to prevent SUPER CHARGE from crossing in front of him. He said making the turn after the 600 Metres SHARKI was not comfortable and hung out. He said in his opinion SHARKI did not handle tonight's track conditions. SHARKI was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. A veterinary inspection of SHARKI after the race did not show any significant findings. SHARE THE FUN, GRAND COMMANDS and THE WORLD OF LOVE were sent for sampling.
