Racing Incident Report
During the preliminary, OUR JET dislodged its rider, G Schofield, and galloped back past the winning post prior to being recaptured. G Schofield was uninjured. After arriving at the Start, OUR JET was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. GREAT WIN began awkwardly, lost ground, shifted in and bumped SAINT THOMAS which was also slow to begin and was carried out by GENERAL KINGY. After this, GREAT WIN was hard ridden to go forward and lead. Shortly after the start, KEY TO SUCCESS was bumped by EVERY TIME. Near the 900 Metres, EVERY TIME became unbalanced and dipped when crowded for room between OUR JET and CLASSIC NAVIGATOR which after initially being carried in by GREAT WIN then shifted in further. No action was taken. KEY TO SUCCESS made the turn at the 800 Metres awkwardly and was steadied away from the heels of KINGSTON WINNER. Prior to straightening, KEY TO SUCCESS was steadied and shifted to the outside of the heels of KINGSTON WINNER. Shortly after straightening, OUR JET, which was endeavouring to improve between CLASSIC NAVIGATOR and EVERY TIME, was bumped by EVERY TIME. R Fradd (ABSOLUTE CHAMPION) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that at about the 100 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of KINGSTON WINNER, causing that horse to be crowded and lose its rightful running. R Fradd was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 24 March 2005 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Wednesday 16 March 2005. In addition, R Fradd was fined $30,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. When KINGSTON WINNER was crowded in this incident, further crowding was caused on its inside to FIREBOLT and GREAT WIN which when giving ground became unbalanced. Over the concluding stages, ABSOLUTE CHAMPION got its head on the side and shifted out towards SAINT THOMAS. L Innes (GENERAL KINGY) explained rounding the Home Turn his mount was not travelling well and he therefore elected to maintain his position behind runners into the Home Straight before shifting out to obtain clear running which he did near the 400 Metres. He said near the 400 Metres as ABSOLUTE CHAMPION improved towards his outside, he shifted to the outside of EVERY TIME, however, at no stage did GENERAL KINGY respond to his riding. GREAT WIN was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GREAT WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. CLASSIC NAVIGATOR, ABSOLUTE CHAMPION and SAINT THOMAS were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported CLASSIC NAVIGATOR was bleeding from the mouth.
