Racing Incident Report

PERFETTO and SHANGHAI KING were slow to begin. When the gates opened, LUCKY DICE bounded in the air, on landing stumbled and lost ground. On jumping, SURVEYOR and RAINBOW DIAMOND were crowded for room between CHEERFUL HEART and NEW MILESTONE, both of which shifted ground. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, SURVEYOR became unbalanced when crowded for room inside SUNBELL which got its head on the side and shifted in. In the middle stages, CHERISHED proved difficult to settle and raced close to the heels of RAINBOW DIAMOND. After the 400 Metres, RAINBOW DIAMOND was steadied, shifted in and brushed the running rail when close to the heels of CHEERFUL HEART. After the 200 Metres, KONRAD THE GREAT, which was commencing to close the race off, was steadied away from the heels of RAINBOW DIAMOND which shifted out. Over the concluding stages, CHERISHED hung out and proved difficult to ride. Throughout the race, SUNBELL raced wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of SURVEYOR, C Brown was unable to offer any explanation. He said SURVEYOR travelled comfortably in a forward position, however, when he endeavoured to improve after the 400 Metres SURVEYOR failed to respond to his riding. NEW MILESTONE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of NEW MILESTONE after the race did not show any significant findings. RAINBOW DIAMOND, CALIFORNIA BISHOP and VICTORY MARBLE were sent for sampling.
