Racing Incident Report

RISING WIN, from the outside gate, began awkwardly and then was immediately shifted across behind runners. BARRACUDA began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped the hindquarters of FUHRWIN. ROMANTIC SYMPHONY was slow to begin. MOMENTUM bounded in the air at the start. In the early stages, DANSKE VERY MUCH raced ungenerously with its head up. Near the 1000 Metres, THUNDER MAN was carried wider by FUHRWIN which was shifted out abruptly by its rider, B Prebble, after hanging in and causing crowding on its inside to ROMANTIC SYMPHONY. At the 600 Metres, FAVOURITE RETURN, which had shifted away from the rail and was racing tight inside FANTASTIC WIN, was checked away from the heels of DANSKE VERY MUCH. ROMANTIC SYMPHONY and THUNDER MAN, which were following, were steadied in consequence. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, DANSKE VERY MUCH hung out. On straightening, FAVOURITE RETURN was carried wider by RIGHT CHOICE which shifted out into clear running. After the 100 Metres, THUNDER MAN, which was commencing to tire, got its head on the side and lay in. When questioned regarding the improved performance of RIGHT CHOICE, Mr J Size, trainer of the horse, said at the horse's last start at Sha Tin from a wide barrier it travelled wide and ungenerously and consequently raced without luck. He said tonight RIGHT CHOICE from a good gate was able to enjoy a comfortable run and was clearly suited by the fast tempo of the early stages. BARRACUDA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, BARRACUDA, which was reported to be making an abnormal breathing noise, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said there were no significant findings. FANTASTIC WIN, RIGHT CHOICE and FAVOURITE RETURN were sent for sampling.
