Racing Incident Report
C Brown was fined $2,000 for accepting the riding engagements on both TOY QUEST and SUPER FANTASY at declaration time. Permission was given for B Prebble to be substituted as the rider of SUPER FANTASY. TOY QUEST was slow to begin. DREAMS COME TRUE bounded in the air at the start and began awkwardly. On jumping, ISLAND SPIRIT and CZAR OF PRUSSIA were crowded for room between MILITARY OPTION which shifted out and FORTUNE SMILES which shifted in slightly. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, CZAR OF PRUSSIA was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SUPER IDEAL. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, NIGHT NINJA was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of VICTORY MARBLE. SUPER FANTASY, which was following and proving difficult to settle, was then steadied away from the heels of NIGHT NINJA and shifted out. After entering the Back Straight, VICTORY MARBLE blundered. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, ISLAND SPIRIT was awkwardly placed close to the heels of FORTUNE SMILES. At the 400 Metres, MILITARY OPTION was steadied away from the heels of DREAMS COME TRUE. Prior to straightening, SUPER FANTASY was steadied when disappointed for running between NIGHT NINJA and SUPER IDEAL. For some distance after the 400 Metres, ISLAND SPIRIT was held up and unable to improve when racing between FORTUNE SMILES and DREAMS COME TRUE. For the major part of the race, ARMONDO raced wide and without cover. D Whyte (FORTUNE SMILES) reported the horse's poor performance was due to it failing to handle tonight's track conditions. FORTUNE SMILES, DOUBLE DIP and SUPER FANTASY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, FORTUNE SMILES was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to have a continuous displacement of the soft palate. A veterinary inspection of DOUBLE DIP and SUPER FANTASY after the race did not show any significant findings. MILITARY OPTION, CZAR OF PRUSSIA and VICTORY MARBLE were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 19 May 2005)
DOUBLE DIP, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. DOUBLE DIP was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C S Shum this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, DOUBLE DIP will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
