Racing Incident Report

CAPABILITY was slow to begin. ROMANTIC WINNER began awkwardly, causing B Prebble, its rider, to become unbalanced. Shortly after the start, CAPABILITY and ROMANTIC WINNER lost their positions when crowded for room between GOLDEN STRIDE which shifted out and SUPER FIGHTER which began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly. On jumping, RED STORM RISING was bumped by MIRACULOUS which shifted out. With the intention of being ridden back in the field from the outside draw, SEVEN STARS was immediately shifted across behind runners. Near the 900 Metres, RED STORM RISING was steadied away from the heels of MIRACULOUS. At the same time, SUPER FIGHTER became unbalanced. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, ROMANTIC WINNER hung in. After the 600 Metres, RED STORM RISING became unbalanced, shifted in and was steadied away from the heels of SUPER FIGHTER. For some distance after the 600 Metres, SUPER FIGHTER was awkwardly placed outside the heels of ROMANTIC WINNER. On straightening, HAPPY WINNING was bumped by RED STORM RISING which shifted in. Over the concluding stages, CAPABILITY hung out and proved difficult to ride. RED STORM RISING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of RED STORM RISING after the race did not show any significant findings. ROMANTIC WINNER and LUCKY WINNER were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that GOLDEN STRIDE had bled from both nostrils and SIGHT CHAMPION had lost its left front plate. Also after the race, it was reported that TOURELLE LAD had returned bleeding profusely from a cut to the tongue.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 31 May 2005)
The Senior Veterinary Officer has today reported that RED STORM RISING, which performed poorly in Race 2 at Sha Tin Racecourse last Sunday, was yesterday subjected to a further clinical examination. He said it had been reported that an endoscopic examination showed RED STORM RISING to be suffering from significant stomach ulcers.
