Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, EXCELLENT BOY bounded in the air, causing C Brown, its rider, to become badly unbalanced and almost be dislodged. As a consequence, EXCELLENT BOY lost considerable ground. On jumping, ELFHELM was steadied when crowded for room between THE LAVISH LAD and TREASURE RAIDERS, both of which shifted ground. JOYFUL UNION was slow into stride. With the intention of being ridden quietly from a wide barrier, GOOD TRIO was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners. In the early stages, SUNDAY DELIGHT raced wide and without cover and after passing the winning post on the first occasion was steadied in an endeavour to take up a position behind FORTUNE GOLD. However, when SUNDAY DELIGHT was being steadied, BALL OF FIRE (H K Yim) was ridden along to prevent it from shifting in. At the same time, ELFHELM, which was racing inside BALL OF FIRE, was crowded for room. As a result, SUNDAY DELIGHT continued to race wide and without cover. H K Yim was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Near the 1100 Metres, JOYFUL UNION, after becoming unbalanced, was checked when crowded for room inside FREEBIRD which after being crossed by TREASURE RAIDERS got its head on the side and shifted in momentarily. EXCELLENT BOY, which was following JOYFUL UNION, was checked in consequence. No action was taken. At the 1000 Metres, SUNDAY DELIGHT was carried wider by BALL OF FIRE which when proving difficult to settle shifted out away from the heels of EXCELLENT BOY. After this, BALL OF FIRE, which continued to prove difficult to settle, strode forward when racing without cover. At the 600 Metres, EXCELLENT BOY was steadied away from the heels of FORTUNE GOLD. When giving ground near the 400 Metres, TREASURE RAIDERS got its head on the side, hung in and caused some crowding to FREEBIRD. Near the 250 Metres, JOYFUL UNION became unbalanced when bumped by WINWIN COMBO which when improving towards the inside of TREASURE RAIDERS was carried in further by that horse which shifted in after being bumped by FORTUNE GOLD. The performance of TREASURE RAIDERS, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, TREASURE RAIDERS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TREASURE RAIDERS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of TREASURE RAIDERS after the race did not show any significant findings. ASSET PLAY, ELFHELM and EXCELLENT BOY were sent for sampling.
