Racing Incident Report
During the parade, it was noted KINDACROSS had blood present at its mouth. KINDACROSS was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said the horse had a laceration to the tip of its tongue and in his opinion was suitable to race. Just prior to the gates opening, GOOD PROFIT commenced to rear and as the gates opened was in the air, consequently lost ground. RAIDER stood flat-footed as the gates opened and was slow to begin. STAY YOUNG was slow to begin and on jumping bumped the outside gate of its stall. Near the 800 Metres, GOODY clipped the heels of SAN LORENZO and blundered after that horse which had been proving difficult to settle shifted out away from the heels of TRIUMPHANT UNICORN. In the circumstances, no action was taken. After this, GOODY raced wide and without cover for some distance and SAN LORENZO also raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the race. KEY TO SUCCESS made the turn at the 800 Metres awkwardly, got its head up, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of SAN LORENZO. Making the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, EXPECTATIONS and RAIDER raced tight as RAIDER endeavoured to shift out to obtain clear running. In the early part of the Straight, PRETTY TRIO had difficulty obtaining clear running behind KINDACROSS, then after the 200 Metres was momentarily steadied when endeavouring to improve inside the heels of KINDACROSS. Over about the final 50 Metres, SIROCCO got its head on the side and shifted out. STAY YOUNG, which was following SIROCCO, was close to that horse's heels and as a consequence was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. GOODY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GOODY after the race did not show any significant findings. DANACOURT and JOYFUL WINNER were sent for sampling.
