Racing Incident Report
When parading behind the barriers, SHATIN WIN WIN was kicked by GLORY YEARS. SHATIN WIN WIN was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. GLORY YEARS began awkwardly, knuckled and lost ground. BRAVE COMMANDER began awkwardly. NAPA was slow to begin and was then bumped by MR GENKI which shifted out. WIKI WIKI was slow to begin and then bumped with FOURSQUARE. Shortly after the start, GLORY YEARS was steadied to avoid the heels of BRAVE COMMANDER (Apprentice C K Tong) which shifted in when not properly clear. Apprentice Tong was advised to exercise greater care. Making the turn at the 700 Metres, SURE JOY and EXCELLENT PARTNERS were crowded for room inside HAPPY WINNING which shifted in slightly when not properly clear. At this time, EXCELLENT PARTNERS was hanging out. Because of the circumstances, no action was taken. FOURSQUARE, which was following SURE JOY, was steadied to avoid the heels of that horse. Also making the turn at the 700 Metres, SHATIN WIN WIN hung out, got its head up and was checked to avoid the heels of BRAVE COMMANDER. GLORY YEARS, which was following, was checked and shifted out in consequence. At the 500 Metres, FLASH HARRY (O Chavez) was checked severely when attempting to improve into a doubtful run on the inside of EXCELLENT PARTNERS which after hanging out shifted back in. O Chavez was told to ensure there was sufficient room before endeavouring to improve into runs. After the 100 Metres, MR GENKI was steadied and shifted in when unable to obtain clear running between SURE JOY and FOURSQUARE. Throughout the race, BRAVE COMMANDER raced wide and without cover, then in the Straight hung in. FLASH HARRY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, FLASH HARRY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse had sustained a laceration to the left front leg. FOURSQUARE, HAPPY WINNING and WIKI WIKI were sent for sampling.
