Racing Incident Report
THE KING was withdrawn on 19.12.05 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (swollen left fore fetlock) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter VICTORY MARBLE (Apprentice H W Lai). Before being allowed to race again, THE KING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. As the gates opened, VICTORY MARBLE became fractious, as a consequence began awkwardly and lost ground. In the early stages, MONEY STRONG despite being ridden along failed to muster speed, got its head on the side and hung in. In the middle stages, GOOD NATURE proved difficult to settle. Throughout the race, HAPPY PARTNERS from the outside barrier travelled wide and without cover, for the major part of the race hung out and making the Home Turn shifted wider on the track, then in the Straight continued to hang out and as a consequence was not ridden out. HAPPY PARTNERS was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of HAPPY PARTNERS after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of HAPPY PARTNERS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, HAPPY PARTNERS will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. MONEY STRONG was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, MONEY STRONG was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said the horse was displaying signs of an irregular heart beat. Before being allowed to race again, MONEY STRONG will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GOOD NATURE and SILVER SUN were sent for sampling.
