Racing Incident Report
FORTUNE LAD was slow to begin. RISING WIN, which was standing badly, began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall and lost ground. BAYVIEW LAD began awkwardly, then throughout raced wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. Passing the winning post on the first occasion, LA MERVEILLE was tightened for room between BRAVERY LUCK and MILLENNIUM SUPREME which got its head on the side and shifted in away from BAYVIEW LAD. Shortly after passing the winning post on the first occasion, BRAVERY LUCK was steadied away from the heels of BRAVE COMMANDER. Near the 1300 Metres, LUCKY ENCOUNTER and KINGSTON GLORY became unbalanced when momentarily crowded for room inside BRILLIANT WIN. Entering the Back Straight, LA MERVEILLE was shifted out away from the heels of BRAVERY LUCK as the pace steadied. At the same time, FORTUNE LAD was steadied away from the heels of LA MERVEILLE. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, LA MERVEILLE was awkwardly placed close to the heels of BRAVERY LUCK. CAPABEL and RISING WIN which were following were steadied as a consequence. After the 400 Metres, FORTUNE LAD was checked and shifted out to avoid the heels of BRILLIANT WIN which was giving ground quickly. When FORTUNE LAD was shifted out, inconvenience was caused to HAPPY HEROES which was also checked. Over the final 200 Metres, LA MERVEILLE hung in. After the 100 Metres, RISING WIN, which was closing the race off, was shifted to the outside of BRAVE COMMANDER to continued going forward, then in the run to the line was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY ENCOUNTER. Over the concluding stages, CAPABEL was steadied when crowded for room between BRAVERY LUCK and MILLENNIUM SUPREME (Apprentice H W Lai) which when being ridden out got its head on the side and shifted in while hanging. Apprentice Lai was severely reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount. Because of this, CAPABEL was not ridden out to the end of the race as it normally would be. In the run to the line, BRAVERY LUCK raced tight inside CAPABEL and because of this was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. In the Straight, when giving ground, KINGSTON GLORY hung in. BAYVIEW LAD and BRILLIANT WIN were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BAYVIEW LAD and BRILLIANT WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of BRILLIANT WIN, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, BRILLIANT WIN will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CAPABEL, LA MERVEILLE and MILLENNIUM SUPREME were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 19 January 2006)
BRILLIANT WIN, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. BRILLIANT WIN was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer K L Man this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg. As previously advised, BRILLIANT WIN will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
