Racing Incident Report

Whilst being paraded, BLISS STAR lost its right front plate. This plate was reset and after arriving at the Start BLISS STAR was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. ZERO IN, Standby Declared Starter, was withdrawn on 10.3.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (fever). Before being allowed to race again, ZERO IN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. LUMINOUS began awkwardly and lost ground, then near the 1300 Metres lost further ground when steadied as a result of being crowded between LIVERBIRD and BLISS STAR which was carried out by THE ONLY ONE. As a consequence, LUMINOUS got further back than is usual. SPINNING CITY got its head up on jumping and as a consequence lost ground. DISGUISE was slow to begin. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, BLUE GENES, THE ONLY ONE and LIVERBIRD came together, causing these horses to become unbalanced. At the 800 Metres, BLISS STAR when being steadied in front got its head up. At the 600 Metres, EVER KING was steadied away from the heels of SPINNING CITY. On straightening, CHECK MATE was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of WINNING SUNSHINE which itself was steadied away from the heels of LIVERBIRD. After the 400 Metres, THE ONLY ONE was bumped by BLUE GENES which shifted to the outside of BLISS STAR which commenced to give ground. Then at the 300 Metres, THE ONLY ONE was again bumped by BLUE GENES which at this time shifted to the outside of DISGUISE. Over the concluding stages, EVER KING hung out. Throughout the race, ENCHANTED travelled wide and without cover. When questioned regarding the poor performance of LUMINOUS, D Whyte said the horse travelled further back than anticipated as a result of being inconvenienced after the start. He said LUMINOUS travelled satisfactorily until the 600 Metres when it appeared to be somewhat field shy. He said after this LUMINOUS did not finish the race off as he had hoped and he was unable to offer any explanation for the horse's performance. LUMINOUS was sent for an official veterinary inspection and sampling. LIVERBIRD was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUMINOUS and LIVERBIRD after the race did not show any significant findings. DISGUISE and WINNING SUNSHINE were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported TIGER RIDGE had lost its right front plate.
