Racing Incident Report

RAINBOW DIAMOND was slow to begin and was then checked when crowded for room between MAIN ATTRACTION and DRAGON STRIDE, both of which shifted ground. In the early stages, NICKU NICKU travelled wide and without cover and after the 1000 Metres was allowed to stride forward. Near the 1000 Metres, RAINBOW DIAMOND was checked and CENAMIRA hampered when awkwardly placed behind RAIN IN SPRING which at this time got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of MEATH. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, FUJIAN PRINCE, which was proving difficult to settle, got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of DRAGON STRIDE. In the middle stages, MAIN ATTRACTION was left racing without cover. In the early part of the Straight, PURPLE GOLD, which was hanging in, was difficult to shift to the outside of SPOKESMAN. Over the final 200 Metres, MEATH hung in and proved difficult to ride. B Prebble (SPOKESMAN) said he had not been issued firm instructions on how the horse should be ridden. He said previously when he had been successful on SPOKESMAN, the horse had raced in a position around midfield. He said in the early stages he allowed SPOKESMAN to go forward, however, when a number of runners on his inside also went forward, he elected near the 1500 Metres to steady, shift across behind runners and then attempt to improve his position. He said when the race was run at a moderate tempo, he was able to gradually improve his position along the Back Straight and consequently the horse raced further forward then it has been recently. DRAGON STRIDE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of DRAGON STRIDE after the race did not show any significant findings. FUJIAN PRINCE, SPOKESMAN and RAIN IN SPRING were sent for sampling.
