Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, SIMPLY THE BEST bounded in the air, then was bumped by FRIENDS FOREVER which shifted out and as a consequence lost further ground. ARIGATO began awkwardly. BRAVE COMMANDER began awkwardly, causing F Coetzee, its rider, to become unbalanced. NATIVE LANGUAGE was slow to muster speed. After being ridden along shortly after the start, TURF GOLD proved difficult to settle and for some distance after the 1200 Metres got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of BRAVE COMMANDER. At the 700 Metres, NATIVE LANGUAGE was steadied away from the heels of TOUCH DOWN. Near the 300 Metres, MILLENNIUM SUPREME, which was beginning to close the race off, was shifted to the outside of MAGNIFICENT HORSE to obtain clear running. At the 300 Metres, TOUCH DOWN was steadied and shifted out when disappointed for running between G-ONE LEADING and TURF GOLD. Over the final 200 Metres, G-ONE LEADING did not obtain clear running when racing behind FRIENDS FOREVER which was giving ground. Because of this, G-ONE LEADING was not fully tested. Near the 100 Metres, TURF GOLD became unbalanced after being bumped by G-ONE LEADING which endeavoured to shift out from behind FRIENDS FOREVER to obtain clear running. For the major part of the race, A-TACK travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. A-TACK and TURF GOLD were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, A-TACK was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, A-TACK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of TURF GOLD after the race did not show any significant findings. BRAVE COMMANDER and MIRACLE DRAGON were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported BRAVE COMMANDER was bleeding from the mouth as a result of a laceration to the tongue.
