Racing Incident Report

As the start was effected, PACIFIC ALLIANCE reared and lost a considerable amount of ground. MAKE YOU JEALOUS was slow to begin. Making the turn at the 2000 Metres, MEATH was crowded for room between VINCERE and SPECIFIC SORCEROR. Near the 1600 Metres, EVER KING got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of WATCHMAN. Making the turn at the 1000 Metres, VINCERE was hampered and carried wider by EVER KING which when being shifted towards the outside of the heels of WATCHMAN shifted out abruptly. At the 200 Metres, LAZY BUDDIES was shifted out after being disappointed for running inside SPECIFIC SORCEROR. In the Straight, EVER KING was inclined to shift wider. S Dye (BEST CHOICE) said at the horse's last start over the course and distance it proved difficult to settle, he allowed it to stride forward into the lead, however, the horse did not finish the race off. He said tonight it was therefore the intention to ride BEST CHOICE more quietly in the hope it would run out the 2200 Metres. He said BEST CHOICE after entering the Home Straight on the first occasion proved very difficult to settle and near the 1600 Metres was checked when awkwardly placed inside the heels of TELECOM TYCOON. He said BEST CHOICE continued to prove difficult to settle and as a consequence failed to finish the race off. BEST CHOICE was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of BEST CHOICE after the race did not show any significant findings. MEATH and LAZY BUDDIES were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 25 May 2006)
BEST CHOICE, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. BEST CHOICE was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C S Shum this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have restricted action in front. Before being allowed to race again, BEST CHOICE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
