Racing Incident Report
SANBENITO and PERFECT TIME were slow to begin. After the 1200 Metres when being steadied to allow FRIENDSHIP to cross, FORTUNE BOY got its head up and hung out. After the 900 Metres, MIGHTY HUGO lost ground when being steadied away from the heels of FRIENDSHIP which shifted out slightly. Near the 700 Metres, PERFECT TIME became unbalanced while racing inside WINNING SUNSHINE which at this time was proving difficult to settle and was steadied away from the heels of CAPITALAND. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, CAPITALAND hung in. Near the 400 Metres, WINNING SUNSHINE was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of CAPITALAND. Shortly after straightening, FORTUNE BOY was steadied and shifted to the outside of MIGHTY HUGO to obtain clear running. At the 100 Metres, SUPER BALL was checked when crowded for room inside VICTORY START (W M Lai) which after initially being carried in by FRIENDSHIP then shifted in further away from that horse. In the circumstances, W M Lai was severely reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. C Munce (CARRIZO CREEK) reported the intention had been to ride the horse in a similar manner to last start, however, CARRIZO CREEK began well and travelled into a forward position of its own accord. CAPITALAND was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of CAPITALAND after the race did not show any significant findings. CARRIZO CREEK, FORTUNE BOY and SHANGHAI KING were sent for sampling.
