Racing Incident Report
The Stewards tonight interviewed Mr D J Hall, the trainer of MULTO EXPRESSO, as to the circumstances regarding the horse being mistakenly treated with an anti-ulcer treatment on raceday morning. MULTO EXPRESSO was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Mr Hall was found by the Stewards to be in breach of Rule 50(2) in that he was negligent in the running of his stable. Mr Hall was fined $20,000. GANBARIA was slow to begin, then lost further ground as a result of becoming unbalanced when crowded for room between INDUSTRIAL MARVEL and SAND DANCE, both of which shifted ground. ULTRA FANTASY was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, LUCKY STRAVINSKY was crowded for room between AMO and INDUSTRIAL MARVEL, both of which shifted ground. Near the 800 Metes, SAND DANCE, LUCKY STRAVINSKY and TIGER RIDGE were crowded for room and checked inside INVERNESS (Apprentice K W Tsui) which shifted in when not clear. In the special circumstances of this case, having in mind Apprentice Tsui did not ride for the majority of last season through injury, the Stewards believed it appropriate to severely reprimand Apprentice Tsui and advise him that he would be expected to exercise far greater care. Shortly after this incident, KIMBERLEY MINES was steadied when crowded for room inside SPEED FIGHTER which shifted in after being bumped on the hindquarters by TIGER RIDGE when that horse was crowded for room. No action was taken. At the 200 Metres, KIMBERLEY MINES, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied and shifted to the outside of TIGER RIDGE to obtain clear running. After the 200 Metres, AMO was crowded for room inside LUCKY STRAVINSKY. Throughout the race, ALWAYS WELCOME travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground. GANBARIA was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GANBARIA after the race did not show any significant findings. TIGER RIDGE, ULTRA FANTASY and AMO were sent for sampling.
