Racing Incident Report
After arriving on course, Mr T K Ng, trainer of WISHING WELL, expressed concern over the manner in which the horse had travelled from Sha Tin to Happy Valley. The horse was inspected by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Prior to the declaration of weighed-in, Apprentice C W Wong, the rider of DANEPRINT, and Mr C H Yip, trainer of the horse, expressed an opinion to the Stewards that an attendant had a hold of DANEPRINT when the gates opened. The Stewards viewed the official videos of the start which showed the attendant assisting DANEPRINT maintain contact momentarily with the horse as the gates opened. After beginning slowly, DANEPRINT then did not muster speed in the early stages, resulting in the horse racing back in the field. In the opinion of the Stewards, this was not an appropriate set of circumstances in which they should exercise the powers granted to them to declare DANEPRINT a non-runner and therefore weighed in was declared on the numbers as semaphored by the Judge. On jumping, HONG KONG GEM was bumped by GREEN IDEAL which shifted ground after being bumped by CAPTAIN BUNNY. NATURAL ECHO began awkwardly. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, NATURAL ECHO and AMBITIOUS MARJU bumped. NEW TAMAR, which was following, was steadied in consequence. After the 1500 Metres, NEW TAMAR, which had been hard ridden to make up ground, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of AMBITIOUS MARJU. Near the 1000 Metres, NATURAL ECHO got its head on the side and hung in away from CAPTAIN BUNNY. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, AMBITIOUS MARJU became unbalanced when awkwardly placed inside GREEN IDEAL. Shortly after straightening, WISHING WELL, which commenced to give ground, was bumped by NEW TAMAR which itself was bumped by GREEN IDEAL. The performance of CAPTAIN BUNNY, which throughout the race travelled wide and without cover and finished tailed off, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, CAPTAIN BUNNY will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. GREEN IDEAL and AMBITIOUS MARJU were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of GREEN IDEAL after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, AMBITIOUS MARJU was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. STEP FORWARD, NEW TAMAR and NATURAL ECHO were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported CAPTAIN BUNNY had lost its right front plate.
