Racing Incident Report
On jumping, MULTO EXPRESSO stumbled. FIRST BABY was slow to begin. With the intention of being ridden quietly, GENERAL SPEEDEE got its head up on jumping and then was taken across behind runners. Shortly after the start, PLENTY OF TALENT was steadied when crowded for between TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND and A MIRROR which shifted in after being bumped by CARE FREE PRINCE. At the 1100 Metres, TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND became unbalanced when crowded for room between FIRST BABY which shifted out and MULTO EXPRESSO which when proving difficult to settle shifted in while being steadied away from the heels of BRAVE COMMANDER. Near the 800 Metres, FIRST BABY was steadied when crowded for room inside PALIO KING which at this time got its head on the side and shifted in away from TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND. After this, PALIO KING continued to hang in away from TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND. At the 300 Metres, UNIQUE SPEED, which was having difficulty obtaining clear running, was steadied and shifted out to go forward. Near the 100 Metres, MULTO EXPRESSO was steadied when crowded for room between FIRST BABY and TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND, both of which shifted ground. No action was taken. In the Straight, CARE FREE PRINCE hung in. When questioned regarding the improved performance of CARE FREE PRINCE, Mr Y S Tsui, trainer of the horse, said when CARE FREE PRINCE had its first start for his stable at its most recent start, the race was run at Happy Valley and because of the tempo in the early stages CARE FREE PRINCE was not able to obtain a forward position. He said he felt CARE FREE PRINCE would be better suited ridden more prominently, therefore he freshened the horse in its work and decided to start it at Sha Tin where generally the tempo is more suitable. He said today CARE FREE PRINCE was able to obtain a more forward position and therefore travelled comfortably until straightening where it again hung in as it usually does. PALIO KING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of PALIO KING after the race did not show any significant findings. FIRST BABY, CARE FREE PRINCE and TRIUMPHANT DIAMOND were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported GENERAL SPEEDEE was making an abnormal breathing noise.
