Racing Incident Report

SUPER BONUS was slow to begin. SUPER began awkwardly and bounded in the air. Shortly after the start, FAIRPLAY was crowded for room between SPY KING and TRIUMPHANT GLORY which shifted in. After the 1200 Metres, FAIRPLAY was steadied away from the heels of TRIUMPHANT GLORY. In the middle stages, SUPER, which was hanging out, travelled wide and without cover. For some distance after straightening, LUCKY CORDELIA proved difficult to shift to the outside of FAIRPLAY to obtain clear running. The Stewards deferred the declaration of weighed-in while they considered whether PLEASURE PLEASURE had had an unfair start. The official videos of the start were viewed. Apprentice H W Lai, the rider of PLEASURE PLEASURE, was interviewed together with Mr A Lee, trainer of the horse. It was established prior to the start being effected, PLEASURE PLEASURE became fractious in its stall and because of this the barrier attendant took hold of PLEASURE PLEASURE in an attempt to settle the horse. When he did this, PLEASURE PLEASURE's head turned to the left and when the start was effected the horse was standing with its head still turned and in addition was also continued to be held by the attendant. As a consequence, PLEASURE PLEASURE lost a considerable amount of ground at the start. The Stewards considered PLEASURE PLEASURE had had an unfair start and accordingly deemed the horse to be a non-runner [Rule 12(19)]. MIRACULOUS and SOUND OF SILENCE were sent for sampling.
