Racing Incident Report

On jumping, HAPPY CONTENDER was crowded for room between MILLION SUCCESS and SUPER DANA, both of which shifted ground. Shortly after the start, CHEERFUL HEART was crowded for room between WADADELIGHT which shifted in and SUPER DANA which at this time was shifted out. SMACKO bounded in the air at the start and was then taken across behind runners. Near the 1900 Metres, BEAR DOMINANCE, which was being taken across behind runners, was steadied away from the heels of RED PEPPER. From on straightening until near the 200 Metres, DR MORE and SPEEDING MOLLY were held up and unable to obtain clear running. From on straightening until near the 100 Metres, HAPPY CONTENDER was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Because of this, HAPPY CONTENDER was not properly tested. For some distance after straightening, WADADELIGHT was held up and unable to obtain clear running. For the major part of the race, SUPER DANA travelled wide and without cover. W M Lai (MAVERICK) said his mount travelled comfortably throughout the run behind the leaders, however, when asked to quicken after straightening failed to respond to his riding. He said the manner in which MAVERICK closed the race off today was very "flat". B Prebble (MILLION SUCCESS) said he rode the horse in a forward position the same as it was at its last start. He said the tempo of today's race was quicker than when MILLION SUCCESS was successful last time. He said MILLION SUCCESS travelled comfortably for him in the early stages, however, making the turn at the 800 Metres the horse was crowded for room when awkwardly placed inside SUPER DANA which at that time hung in. He said after this MILLION SUCCESS was not comfortable racing inside SUPER DANA and in his opinion appeared to lose interest. He said in the Straight MILLION SUCCESS failed to close the race off. MILLION SUCCESS and SUPER DANA were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of MILLION SUCCESS and SUPER DANA after the race did not show any significant findings. MAVERICK, SMACKO and RED PEPPER were sent for sampling.
