Racing Incident Report

After the 1500 Metres, WE'RE BUDDIES was checked when crowded for room between MIRACLE DRAGON and ACCELERATION which at this time was carried in by JOY AND TREASURE which itself was carried in by DENDRANTHEMA LOVE (H K Yim) which when hanging shifted ground despite the efforts of its rider. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, ACCELERATION was checked when crowded for room inside JOY AND TREASURE which was carried in further by DENDRANTHEMA LOVE which shifted ground while continuing to hang and was awkwardly placed inside the heels of WATCHMAN which had been ridden along to improve its position on the inside of STEP FORWARD and was carried in slightly by that horse. Shortly after this, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE was checked when crowded for room inside WATCHMAN which was carried in further by STEP FORWARD which shifted slightly. Although these incidents were of some significance, the Stewards did not believe any one rider could be held responsible, therefore no action was taken. After these incidents, DENDRANTHEMA LOVE continued to hang in for the majority of the race. Near the 800 Metres, ACCELERATION when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DENDRANTHEMA LOVE was shifted out and allowed to improve. After the 600 Metres, SIMPLY THE BEST shifted to the outside of ESPOIR D'OR which commenced to give ground quickly. On straightening, BRAVERY LUCK got its head on the side, hung in and was steadied away from the heels of WISHING WELL. Shortly after straightening, JOY AND TREASURE and STEP FORWARD bumped. The performances of SIMPLY THE BEST and ESPOIR D'OR, which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, SIMPLY THE BEST and ESPOIR D'OR will both have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ESPOIR D'OR was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ESPOIR D'OR after the race did not show any significant findings. STEP FORWARD, TOUCH DOWN and WATCHMAN were sent for sampling.
