Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, CYPRESS HILL bounded in the air, lost ground and was then taken across behind runners. From the outside barrier, EVER KING was taken across behind runners. SNIPER began awkwardly, shifted out, bumped TABBRIS and as a consequence became unbalanced. After passing the winning post on the first occasion, SPEED OF LIGHT was steadied when crowded for room between QI'S PET and MASTER DREAMER which shifted in away from ALWAYS HAPPY (Y T Cheng) after initially being carried in by that horse. In the circumstances, Y T Cheng was told to exercise greater care. Near the 1300 Metres, WONDERFUL BLESSING became badly unbalanced when tightened for room inside SPEED OF LIGHT which initially shifted in and then was carried in further by SOLAR POWER (M Nunes). As the Stewards believed M Nunes was not solely responsible for the incident, no direct action was taken, however, he was reprimanded and told to exercise greater care. From the 1200 Metres until after entering the Back Straight, WONDERFUL BLESSING raced tight inside SPEED OF LIGHT. At the 900 Metres, WONDERFUL BLESSING and SPEED OF LIGHT were tightened for room inside SOLAR POWER which at this time shifted in. M Nunes was reprimanded. At the 700 Metres, CYPRESS HILL was steadied when awkwardly placed inside the heels of SNIPER. After the 200 Metres, FORTUNE BOY and SPEED OF LIGHT were hampered and carried wider by WONDERFUL BLESSING (B Prebble) which shifted out. B Prebble was reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion. SOLAR POWER and QI'S PET were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted QI'S PET had lost its left front plate and also sustained a cut to the heel of the left front foot.
