Racing Incident Report

FANTUZZI was slow to begin. After the 1700 Metres, EVER BRIGHT was momentarily steadied away from the heels of MAN IN THE MIRROR. Apprentice K T Yeung (PRIME SCORE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1600 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CELEBRATION, MAN IN THE MIRROR and SUMMERVILLE POWER, causing those horses to be crowded for room, resulting in SUMMERVILLE POWER and CELEBRATION losing their rightful running and being checked. In the circumstances of this case, the decision was for Apprentice Yeung's licence to ride in races be suspended for a period to expire on Monday 19 March 2007 on which day he may resume race riding (3 Hong Kong racedays). This suspension will commence on Thursday 8 March 2007 on which day Apprentice Yeung was eligible to resume race riding from a previously incurred suspension. When SUMMERVILLE POWER and CELEBRATION checked, EVER BRIGHT, which was following, was checked in consequence. From on straightening until near the 300 Metres, CELEBRATION was held up and unable to obtain clear running. From shortly after straightening until the 200 Metres, EVER BRIGHT was held up and unable to obtain clear running. In the early part of the Straight, MASTERY had difficulty obtaining clear running. Also in the early part of the Straight, GOLD FIELD got its head on the side and shifted wider on the track. At the 200 Metres, CELEBRATION was checked to avoid the heels of GALLANT FALCON which at this time was carried in by FANTUZZI (Apprentice H W Lai). Whilst the Stewards accepted Apprentice Lai had stopped riding and straightened his mount, he was nonetheless reprimanded and told in similar circumstances he would be expected to do so sooner than he did on this occasion. Also at the 200 Metres, WADADELIGHT, which was giving ground, was steadied away from the heels of PIONERO. For the majority of the race, WADADELIGHT travelled wide and without cover. SUMMERVILLE POWER was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of SUMMERVILLE POWER after the race did not show any significant findings. MAN IN THE MIRROR, EVER BRIGHT and TOP HONOR were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 26 February 2007)
SUMMERVILLE POWER, which performed poorly, was examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison. He said at that time there were no significant findings. SUMMERVILLE POWER was again examined by the Head of Veterinary Regulation & International Liaison at the stables of Trainer K W Lui this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in the left front leg and have a stiff and restricted action. Before being allowed to race again, SUMMERVILLE POWER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
