Racing Incident Report

SPIRIT OF LO PAN began awkwardly and was then crowded for room between GLORIOUS RHYTHM and FEEL-SO-GOOD. LUCKY LEGEND began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped BAJAN BELL. After this, LUCKY LEGEND raced greenly and in the early stages was reluctant to hold its position. The performance of LUCKY LEGEND, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, LUCKY LEGEND will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, TABBRIS hung in and at the 800 Metres UNIVERSAL PIONEER was steadied to allow TABBRIS to cross to the lead. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, SPIRIT OF LO PAN, which was racing ungenerously, got its head on the side, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of GLORIOUS RHYTHM. Also making the turn at the 800 Metres, BAJAN BELL, which was travelling keenly, was steadied away from the heels of CARE FREE MIDAS. At the 200 Metres, Apprentice K L Chui (FEEL-SO-GOOD) dropped his whip, then at the 150 Metres momentarily dropped his right rein. At the 150 Metres, CARE FREE MIDAS was steadied when awkwardly placed between the heels of UNIVERSAL PIONEER which at this time shifted out and BAJAN BELL which when hanging shifted in. Over the concluding stages, SOUND OF SILENCE shifted out towards GLORIOUS RHYTHM, resulting in BAJAN BELL being steadied to avoid the heels of SOUND OF SILENCE. As a consequence, BAJAN BELL was not ridden out to the end of the race. Apprentice K L Chui explained he had been instructed to ride his mount in about midfield position, however, near the 1200 Meters SPIRIT OF LO PAN continued to race in a three wide position, he therefore elected to steady his mount, come back behind that horse and shift in to avoid being caught wide. He said because of this FEEL-SO-GOOD travelled further back than anticipated. LUCKY LEGEND was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY LEGEND after the race did not show any significant findings. BAJAN BELL, DURABLE and GLORIOUS RHYTHM were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported CARE FREE MIDAS was suffering heat stress. Before being allowed to race again, CARE FREE MIDAS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
